        Program note:

Movements for Seven Players contains three movements, An Elf's Dance, The Core and Pots, 6ths, Yaga.  All of them are arrangements from my musical diary, Movements for piano (2002-2005), which, so far contains six short pieces.  An Elf's Dance and The Core are compositional etudes.  The former is based on the set [0123], and the latter is based on chromatic scale with a linear and contrapuntal approach.  Pots, 6ths, Yaga, was inspired when I visited my friend, I-Hsuan Cheng in San Diego during the summer of 2005.  She is a very devoted pianist, who usually spends most of her daily time practicing.  Since her husband had to work during the day, her cat, Yaga, was her only audience, listening to her play everything, including all the technique exercises.  My piece was composed with the imagination of her doing the exercises with Yaga dancing around the pots in the kitchen, the cat's favorite place.
