Ming-Hsiu Yen (b. 1980, Taiwan) |
is an active composer and pianist. She has written music for solo, chamber, orchestra, choir, as well as electronic music, and her compositions have been played by such major orchestras as Minnesota Orchestra, YINQI Symphony Orchestra and Choir (Taiwan), and such ensembles as PRISM Quartet, Brave New Works, OSSIA. Received composition awards from various places, she was also a fellow of Minnesota Orchestra Composers Institute, Aspen Music Festival and School, Pacific Music Festival (Japan), and Brevard Music Center.
Actively performing as a soloist and chamber musician, Ming-Hsiu is a two-time winner of the University of Michigan Concerto Competition and performed with University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra. She frequently premiered music written by young composers and has performed in new music festivals, such as SCI national conference, Midwest Composers Symposium, etc.
